Graham Palmer of World War II Books in the UK has uploaded more than 4000 WWII-related non-fiction titles to his webpages where they can be browsed according to category -- and this month's featured category is "Tanks and Armored Fighting Vehicles" -- and the database can be searched by author or title with his search engine. Not to be missed.
From J. H. Faber comes catalog number 57. This issue carries books by authors whose last name begins with "B" (continued from last time), beginning with "Bialer" and ending with "Bywater". Also special sections on unit histories and "Late Arrivals, Recent Publications, and Items of Special Interest".

Military History Bookshop in London forwards its latest red-clad catalog of new and used books from all eras. Difficult to read such tiny, crowded type, but filled with many interesting and unusual items.

Publication of volume four of Germany and the Second World War from Oxford University Press -- this one a 1400 page opus entitled The Attack on the Soviet Union -- has been postponed again. Unlike previous postponements, this time OUP has declined to estimate a new availability date.
Sidney Kramer Books, long a fixture in the nation's capital, has gone out of business.

Vittorio Mussolini, son of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, died Friday, 13 June, in Italy. He was 80 years old. He served with the Italian air force in 1936 during the conquest of Ethiopia, moved to South America after World War II, and returned to Italy in the 1960s. A life-long devotee of film, in 1983 he made a documentary about his father and was writing a biography of Il Duce.

The June 1997 catalog from Paul Gaudette Books of Tucson, Arizona arrived here today with 48 pages of new and used books in a variety of categories, notably aviation history.
New press run
Battery Press announces that The Fifth Infantry Division in the ETO, originally published in 1945 and reprinted by Battery in 1981, will undergo a new print run of a few hundred copies this summer. Shipping is scheduled for 8 August, and advance orders received through 15 July are eligible for a substantial discount.
Battery is also conducting a survey regarding reprints of a number of other books in its divisional history series.
Chris Donaghue Books of San Francisco has unveiled a new website at http://stonebooks.com/donaghue. Chris specializes in used, rare, and out-of-print aviation and military books, with a large assortment of WWII titles. So far he has over 1000 items displayed in his online inventory, with more categories under construction.
In addition to his online inventory, Chris also mails out very nice paper catalogs, runs a bookstore in San Francisco, and offers a page of interesting military and aviation links. Check out his site for more details.
Noted author killed in plane crash
Jeffrey Ethell -- pilot, son of a pilot, aviation historian, and author of over 50 books and hundreds of magazine articles -- died last week at the age of 49 in Oregon in the crash of the P-38 Lightning fighter he was flying. His webpage, now marked "In Memory of Jeffrey L. Ethell", is accessible at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/jethell/index.htm.

These are all new books, although Aberdeen also offers an assortment of used volumes.

Book List #25 -- "Specialised Books for the Serious Student of Conflict" -- from The Naval & Military Press arrives here with 25 pages of new books covering all eras of warfare with a large percentage of WWII titles. Some very hard to find in the United States.
