"The website is still under contruction. We are nearing completion.... Our target is to be up and running by the end of January. [At that time] there will not be any password needed."

Schmitz, et al. Deutschen Divisonen 1939-1945: Volume 3. Covers all divisions with the numbers 11 thru 16. A massive supplement of 137 pages presents a very detailed order of battle of the Polish Army, Navy, and Air Force for the 1939 campaign, then all Polish units raised in Russia, France, and Great Britain during the rest of the war.

Giziowski. The Enigma of General Blaskowitz. A Major study of this German officer. On 5 February 1948 he died under mysterious circumstances while awaiting trial at Nuremburg.

Burhans. The First Special Service Force: A War History of the North Americans, 1942-1944. A reissue of the history of this unique joint US-Canadian unit.

Bradley, et al. General des Heeres, 1921-1945: Part 4. Covers all names from Fleck to Glydenfeldt.

British War Office, General Staff. Handbook of the German Army, 1940. Reprint of the wartime reference book.

Zweng. Verbande und Truppen der Deutschen Wehrmacht und Waffen-SS, 1919-1945: Volume 16, Part 2. Covers the Peacetime garrisons 1932-1939 and the wartime stations 1939-1945.

Greenwood's new catalog contains only about three Second World War titles. They seem to be (understandably) steering customers to their website which displays their full range of military books. Note also that from the website you can subscribe to automated email bulletins about newly published titles in your areas of interest.


Scholar's cornucopia

"A Special Winter Offering" catalog from Scholar's Bookshelf carries a good assortment of new World War II books, many at significant savings. These are for the most part the same (although certainly not all of the) titles in their "Military History" catalog, but with price reductions. Discounts vary; some are as much as 50% off and a few are 75% off.

Clad in its customary red cover, Bookman's latest catalog is dated "Winter 1996" and contains a meaty assortment of titles. Harris and Margaretta habitually rotate categories from catalog to catalog, and this issue brings some especially useful subject matter:
