Peter Carington, 6th Baron Carrington—an officer in the Grenadier Guards from January 1939, awarded the Military Cross in 1945, and subsequently UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and Secretary General of NATO—died on 9 July 2018 at the age of 99.
