Germany and the Near East One of the seminal volumes on this topic, The Third Reich and the Arab East by Lukasz Hirszowicz, originally published in Polish in 1963 and English in 1966, has been reprinted as a softcover by Routledge and is now available.

Round up the usual suspects Luftwaffe Eagle: A WW2 German Airman's Story by Erich Sommer is now available from Grub Street. In addition to the usual interesting Luftwaffe material, this memoir includes a short chapter about Sommer's attachment to the Axis control commission in French Morocco. It might be the only Luftwaffe memoir to have anything to say about duty in Casablanca.

News from Denmark NIAS Press, publisher of End of Empire: 100 Days in 1945 That Changed Asia and the World, has notified us that Monarchical Manipulation in Cambodia: France, Japan, and the Sihanouk Crusade for Independence by Geoffrey C. Gunnwho is also the author of Wartime Macau: Under the Japanese Shadowshould be available later this month. This will be one of the very few books about Cambodia during the war, so probably worth a look.
