Books don't have a standard term of gestation. The War Begins: The Navy's Early Carrier Raids, February-May 1942 by David Lee Russell was originally scheduled for publication in May 2014. The latest word from Naval Institute Press? Look for it in June 2018. Getting it right is more important than getting it out on a deadline.

The US edition of The Naval War in the Baltic, 1939-1945 by Poul Grooss is now available from Naval Institute Press.

Update 1: Interestingly, our copy—ostensibly from NIP—shows Seaforth (an imprint of Pen & Sword) on the title page.

Update 2: NIP confirms that they do not have their own edition of this title. Instead, "We have the rights to sell this book in the US and Canada for Seaforth."

Fred Smith—a crewman on USS Tennessee who survived Pearl Harbor and subsequently served aboard USS Saratoga—died in California on 21 May at the age of 94.
