The battle group was involved in actions against Joe's Bridge (14 September 1944) and Hell's Highway (17-24 September 1944), including the cutting of this vital route for 24 hours, plus the defence of the Overloon area (29 September - 17 October 1944). They fought against the Guards Armoured Division, the 101 US Airborne Division, British 8 Corps (the 3rd British Infantry Division and the 11th Armoured Division), and the US 7th Armored Division.
