News from the Volga Can anyone have too many books about the Battle of Stalingrad? Some publishers seem to think most of us have plenty of room on our bookshelves for more volumes about the cauldron in the city on the Volga. Here are some of the upcoming titles. University Press of Kansas will release the third volume of the Stalingrad trilogyEndgame in Stalingrad: The Victorious Soviet Counteroffensive and Death of German Sixth Army by David Glantz and Jonathan Housein April, weighing in at over 900 pages. Apparently there will also be an accompanying volume of wartime orders, signals, and other documents. In May, Schiffer Publishing plans to release a boxed set of two hardcover volumes by French MacLeanStalingrad: The Death of the German Sixth Army on the Volga, 1942-1943based on Sixth Army daily operation reports and OKH situation maps, and amounting to more than 600 pages. Also in May, University Press of Kansas will offer another title on the same subjectThe Stalingrad Cauldron: Inside the Encirclement and Destruction of the 6th Army by Frank Ellis, with more than 500 pages. Our advice? Clear some room on your bookshelf for about 2000 pages.
