This day in history Sixty-five years ago today, on 28 April 1944, during Exercise TigerAllied landing exercises at Lyme Baythe German 5th and 9th S-Boat flotillas attacked eight USN LSTs escorted by the corvette Azalea and destroyer Saladin, sinking LST-507 and LST-531 with the loss of more than 600 personnel.
