Editor's pick Sometimes when we run across an interesting/unusual/informative book, especially an older or out-of-print one, we like to bring it to your attention. Here's one: Anonymous, translated by Steven Bullard. Japanese Army Operations in the South Pacific Area: New Britain and Papua Campaigns, 1942-43. Canberra, ACT: Australian War Memorial, 2007 Although it took far too long to get a copy into our hands, this English translation of extracts from two volumes of the Japanese official war history series proves to be an excellent account of the war from the other side of the hill, packed with details not found elsewhere. In this age of globalization, information, and on-demand publishing, translating the entire series into English would seem like the next logical step.
