Hara, Tameichi et al. Japanese Destroyer Captain: Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Midway: The Great Naval Battles as Seen through Japanese Eyes. Annapolis, MD: Naval Institute Press, 2007

Originally published in Japan, then in the US in 1961, this represents an all-to-rare view of the Pacific War from the perspective of a Japanese participant, in this case a skipper who writes about his exploits commanding IJN warships in many critical naval engagements. Recently reprinted by NIP.
