This day in history Sixty-five years ago today, on 27 May 1942, in widely scattered parts of the globe, Imperial Japanese Navy forces began sailing for the invasion of Midway Island, the Luftwaffe conducted punishing attacks against convoy PQ-16, and SS Obergruppenfuehrer Reinhard Heydrich was mortally wounded by Free Czech agents.
