Orpen, Neil. South African Forces World War II: East African and Abyssinian Campaigns. Cape Town: Purnell, 1968
In a conflict far removed from industrialized mass armies engaged in a war to the death in Europe, Orpen meticulously describes in considerable detail low-intensity battles and marches more closely resembling a Victorian colonial campaign of the 19th Century.
Holocaust survivor Simon Wiesenthalwho dedicated his post-war life to bringing Nazi criminals to justicedied in Austria on 20 September at the age of 96.
