From Mark L. Evans Mark Evans, author of Great World War II Battles in the Arctic, sends word of his latest projects: "Regarding my ongoing work, the primary project focuses on the Far East between 1918-42. In particular, the WWII work concerns some of the less known campaigns and operations in that regard, especially the Indian Ocean and the specialized operations around the Pacific Rim during the first six months, Pearl Harbor-Midway. In fact, I just returned from an exhaustive search of the British holdings at their Public Record Office and various repositories there. "I have continuously located some incredible records that have received little or no attention and I cannot wait to write them up. My next book will focus on the U.S. and our naval operations during that period, followed by the rest of the Allies in Volume 2 and the Axis in Volume 3. As an example, I have discovered completely detailed orders of battle from primary sources which generally contradict those in print, so there should be some exciting revelations. "Regretfully, time constraints have seriously hampered the work, so it does not look as if these will be finished before next year at the earliest."
Top Ten We're in the final countdown for voting for the Top Ten new WWII books of the year, so be sure to cast your ballot before the online voting machine shuts down at the stroke of the new year (California time). Results will be announced here on 1 January.
