News from David Glantz Colonel Glantz sends word of his latest endeavors: "This is to announce the publication of four new self-published works. "First, I have completed volume V of Forgotten Battles, the most comprehensive volume to date, which covers the Summer-Fall Campaign of 1943. The volume is so large that I have published it in two parts of over 400 pages each (with a total of 426 operational, tactical, and terrain maps). Included in the volume are the full dimensions of the February 1943 Donbas Operation (specifically, German destruction of the Soviet 4th Guards Mechanized and 8th Cavalry Corps), the Taman' Offensives of April-August 1943, the July 1943 Izium and Mius offensives, the multifaceted Belorussian strategic offensive of fall 1943 (Gorodok, Vitebsk, Orsha, Gomel', Kalinkovichi, etc.), the failed Kiev strategic offensive of October 1943 (Chernobyl', Gornostaipol', Liutezh, and Velikii Bukrin), and the Krivoi Rog and Nikopol' offensives of November-December 1943. "In addition, I have reprinted the two volumes of the August Storm: The Soviet's August 1945 Manchurian Offensive, which the US Army issued in 1984 as Leavenworth Papers No. 7 and 8. I have corrected the OB in the volumes, prepared new maps in place of the huge fold-outs in the original version, and added a new section on Soviet plans to invade the Japanese island of Hokkaido. Each volume numbers in excess of 200 pages with numerous maps and charts. I began my work on the Red Army by completing these volumes at the behest of the Japanese."
