Foreword; preface; abbreviations; photos; maps; notes; index.

Appendix: Major units and commanders mentioned in the text.

In late 1944 US commanders ordered division after division fed into the Huertgen Forest inside the German border, and for weeks the divisions were chewed up one after another in a bloody campaign with no clear objective.

Edward Miller, an active duty US Army major, does an excellent job of describing the moves and counter-moves by Americans and Germans in the Forest, along with the interruption imposed by the Battle of the Bulge, and the subsequent battle for the Roer River dams. The book concludes with a thorough analysis of previous Huertgen/Roer literature. Probably the best book yet on the subject.

Available where military books are sold, or directly from Texas A & M.
